My dream of becoming a florist started in my garage in 2012, and on Mother's Day I had about 20 customers and I felt on top of the world! So that summer, I stepped out in faith and began selling small arrangements & wrapped bouquets in Lavallette Liquors. In the fall of 2012 Super Storm Sandy hit the Jersey shore and most of the businesses were destroyed. After the storm I decided to rent my house out to a wonderful couple who were misplaced, Al and Diana, (Al still comes in the shop every Tuesday and gets one rose for Diana, how cute is that?!) With my house being occupied and no work, I traveled to Key West and started working at Love in Bloom, a local flower shop. That’s when I knew what I wanted to do with my life! I needed my own flower shop!
I headed back to New Jersey and started my search for the perfect little spot for Flowers by Melinda and Lavallette only felt right. After a lot of ups and downs I found my home next to Meg’s Grill. From the moment I patched in the phone, it never stopped ringing and I had no idea what I was in for nor what I was thinking when I opened the doors on Mother’s Day weekend 2013! Although that weekend was crazy, I realized my dream had come true and IT. FELT. AMAZING!
I’m just a girl who followed her dreams.
